Death of former president Clive Woosnam on July 27th 2018
We were all saddened by the death of our former president, Clive Woosnam, in Mona Vale Hospital at around 7pm on the 27th of July, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. This is 9 years, to the day, after the death of Dylan's daughter Aeronwy Thomas-Ellis, who also died from cancer.
On Wednesday the 15th of August, from 4pm to 5:30pm there was a memorial service in Clive's honour in the beautiful school chapel at Newington College, where he was a much-loved teacher for 30 years. The service was followed by afternoon tea. Many images of Clive in his diverse activities were shown, and the Welsh Choir, which he loved so much, sang some of their magnificent songs.

July Luncheon at The Newport

The July luncheon on Sunday the 8th of July was the last DTSA event that Clive was able to come to before he died. Almost 30 of us were there, here are some pictures, taken by Pennie Wilson:

There is a CD recorded by Clive, titled Words from Wales.  Nine of the thirteen tracks are of Dylan Thomas stories and poems; in addition, there are two pieces written by Clive, another adapted by him from the pen of Richard Burton, and a poem by Gerard Manley Hopkins.  To listen to them, please click on www.girvanfestival.trad.org.uk/clivewoosnam/  You will need to keep the volume high.
Clive was the former president of the DTSA and the original creator of this website. He wanted to leave something happy on the site and has done that.  Here is an excerpt from the 2011 Legend and Poet afternoon that should provide a few laughs:
